Following the success of the inaugural International Conference on Bioenergy & Bioeconomy (IBBC) held at ISEC Lisbon in collaboration with the IEA-IETS Task XI Committee, we are delighted to welcome you to the second edition of IBBC, taking place at the University of Seville, Spain, from 28–30 October 2026.
IBBC was created as a platform where the global community working across the bioenergy and bioeconomy value chain can come together to exchange knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and explore pathways for translating innovation into real-world impact. Building on the strong discussions and collaborations initiated in Lisbon, IBBC 2026 aims to further deepen the dialogue between research, industry, investment, and policy communities.
This year’s program places a particular emphasis on scaling bio-based technologies from research to deployment. Through plenary lectures, technical sessions, and joint panel discussions, the conference will explore topics such as sustainable biomass resources, biorefineries, advanced biofuels, carbon management, techno-economic analysis, digitalization, and emerging bio-based solutions, while also addressing the challenges of commercialization, infrastructure integration, and market development.
IBBC 2026 has been shaped with the guidance of an international advisory community representing both academic and industrial perspectives, ensuring that discussions reflect not only scientific progress but also the practical realities of technology scale-up, investment, and policy frameworks. By bringing together diverse expertise, the conference aims to foster meaningful collaboration that supports the development of competitive, resilient, and sustainable bio-based systems.
We warmly invite you to join us in Seville for three days of insightful discussions, new collaborations, and shared perspectives on the future of the bioenergy and bioeconomy sectors.
We look forward to welcoming you to Seville, Spain
